My name is Mattie Stivers, and my passion for animal well-being is the driving force behind everything I do. With years of veterinary technical experience, including extensive hands-on work in orthopedic surgery, I bring a unique perspective and specialized skill set to canine recovery. Having worked with small animals and exotics, I deeply understand the bond you share with your furry or scaly companions. This personal connection, coupled with my professional commitment, fuels my dedication to providing exceptional care, and led me to become an ATS Certified Canine Therapist. I firmly believe every pet deserves to live pain-free and benefit from an advanced form of maintenance therapy, whether for general wellness or critical post-operative recovery.
My journey began with seven years as a veterinary technician and surgery assistant, gaining hands-on experience across a spectrum of procedures—from routine exams to complex surgeries. A pivotal 18 months were spent as a Veterinary Surgery Scrub at a leading Southern Oregon specialty hospital, where I worked diligently alongside a board-certified orthopedic surgeon. This provided me with invaluable expertise in orthopedic and soft tissue procedures, advanced post-operative care, and meticulous wound management.
This deep dive into veterinary surgery illuminated a significant challenge: the often complex and lengthy recovery periods pets endure. I observed firsthand how concerns about post-operative owner compliance can lead some surgeons to hesitate on critical procedures, knowing that improper follow-through can cause serious complications.
Today, complicated cases like chronic issues or severe fractures frequently result in recommendations for expensive, extended hospital stays, rigorous 6-8 week exercise restrictions, or even the difficult decision of amputation. My goal is to bridge this gap by offering Southern Oregon's canines a qualified therapist and technician’s "eye" on severe post-operative cases. I provide a clean, trusted environment for advanced wound care and management, optimizing recovery outcomes and the overall well-being of their patients. We can now offer crucial assistance before, during, and after trauma occurs, ensuring pets have the best possible chance at a full and comfortable return to health.
Recognizing the critical need for even more specialized wound care and accelerated post-operative recovery, I am currently pursuing my Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) degree. This advanced training will further enhance my ability to provide exceptional care and offer the potential to assist your primary veterinary office directly when needed. I am committed to bringing a revolutionary therapy solution, supported by numerous case studies, to our community. My aim is to be a dedicated intermediary, translating the incredible benefits of high-end, generally human and equine-based Electro-Acuscope/Myopulse therapy directly to our canine companions. To research more on how this system works, see the Technical Information/Scientific Literature page.
Following my extensive veterinary experience, I pursued rigorous training in Expanded Function Dental Assisting, working in a demanding clinical environment. This experience honed my precision, meticulous attention to detail, and strict adherence to medical protocols—skills directly transferable to the high standards of care I uphold in animal Acuscope and Myopulse therapy. While this period significantly expanded my professional skill set, my ultimate calling and devotion remain with animal well-being.
This calling ultimately led me to microcurrent therapy—a non-invasive, extensively case-studied approach to pain management, injury recovery, and overall wellness for dogs and other small animals. By uniquely combining my extensive veterinary technical experience, specialized orthopedic knowledge, and unwavering commitment to advanced wound care, I offer a comprehensive and unparalleled approach to animal healing here in Southern Oregon. I hold my instruments, your pet, its needs, and your needs, to the absolute highest standard of care.
Beyond my professional qualifications, my passion for learning and diverse interests significantly enhance my approach to animal care. As a "Jack of all trades," I bring a unique blend of skills and perspectives from pursuits like horseback riding, Irish dancing, playing music, volleyball, painting, fishing, and exotic animal care.
